MOUNTAINS FOR EUROPE’S FUTURE

The Network for European Mountain Research (NEMOR) is a network of institutions -public or private- undertaking research in mountain areas, who want to promote research in, and for the sustainable development of, these areas.

If you are an institution carrying out research focused on the sustainable development of European mountain regions, join NEMOR and be part of the largest mountain research community in Europe. You will be able to participate in our working groups and in the consortia of R&I&D projects.

If you are looking for some expertise on mountain development, contact us to start a collaboration with our members.

OUR EXPERTISE

The expertise of NEMOR members covers all dimensions of mountain regions (social, economic and environmental). Our expertise includes agrobiodiversity, ecology, economy, tourism, energy, climatology, geography etc… In NEMOR, we work at all territorial levels -from local to global-, in most mountain regions of Europe and the world.

WHY ARE MOUNTAINS SO IMPORTANT?

They supply us with wood, firewood, mushrooms, fruits, meat, dairy products, and fabrics. Many sports can be done in the mountains too, and, therefore, they attract tourists. Mountains help to rain and filter the rainwater, offer peace and leisure, and concentrate unique biodiversity. But mountains are also under a lot of pressures that put all these services at risk.
