SUMMARY:Alpine Biodiversity Conference
DESCRIPTION:Joint action for the Alps – conserve\, connect and restore.\nThe aim of the Alpine Biodiversity Conference is to present the Alpine Convention’s efforts to strengthen biodiversity conservation as a contribution to the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) adopted in 2022. Moreover\, the goal is to gather feedback and proposals for forward-looking activities from relevant policymakers\, experts\, scientists\, and representatives of Alpine networks. The Slovenian Presidency of the Alpine Convention will present a draft policy brief which will serve as a basis for an in-depth interactive discussion between participants on the three areas of conservation\, connectivity\, and nature restoration. DESCRIPTION:ForumAlpinum is a scientific conference\, organised by the International Scientific Committee on Research in the Alps (ISCAR)\, aiming to promote international research cooperation on topics of relevance across the entire Alpine Arc. In 2024 ForumAlpinum takes place in the scope of the conference “Joint action for the Alps – conserve\, connect\, and restore” that is jointly organised by ISCAR and the Slovenian Presidency of the Alpine Convention. This three-day event will offer participants the opportunity to examine the challenges facing bio- and geodiversity in the Alps and what policy\, scientific\, and social aspects need to be strengthened to safeguard their future. On Wednesday\, 12 June the Alpine Convention Biodiversity Conference takes place. Thursday\, 13 June is dedicated to the scientific conference ForumAlpinum “The Alps – A Refuge for Bio- and Geodiversity!?”. ForumAlpinum will identify hotspots of bio- and geodiversity\, their monitoring and management in the Alps\, analyse land use conflicts and their impact on bio- and geodiversity\, and assess the relevance of bio- and geodiversity protection in the regional\, national or international context to discuss possible solutions.
